Tamil superstar Vijay surprised his fans by joining Instagram on Sunday and posting his first picture with a caption that said “Hello Nanbas and Nanbis” (Hello friends). The actor, who is known for his blockbuster films like Varisu and Leo, gained over 1 million followers within two hours of his debut on the photo and video sharing platform. This is the third highest record for a new account to achieve such a feat, after Cristiano Ronaldo and Jennifer Aniston.
Vijay’s first post received more than 1.5 million likes and over 2 lakh comments from his admirers, who welcomed him with excitement and love. Many celebrities from the Tamil film industry also followed him and expressed their happiness. Rashmika Mandanna, Keerthy Suresh, Priya Anand, Mysskin, Arjun Sarja and Sanjay Dutt were among the first few to follow him.
Vijay, who already has a huge fan following on Twitter and Facebook, has now expanded his social media presence with Instagram. His official page is handled by his office and his bio says “Official Page managed by Actor Vijay’s office.” Till now, the actor’s account has not been followed by anyone.
On the work front, Vijay is currently shooting for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Leo, which is slated to release on October 19. The film also stars Trisha Krishnan, Priya Anand, Mysskin, Arjun Sarja, Sanjay Dutt and Mansoor Ali Khan in pivotal roles. The film is expected to be a part of Lokesh’s multiverse, which also includes his previous films Vikram and Kaithi. Vijay was last seen in Vamshi Paidipally’s Varisu opposite Rashmika Mandanna, which was a huge box office success.
